BED-AND-BREAKFASTS

A bed-and-breakfast is usually someone’s residence as well as their business. Showing respect to the innkeepers and the other patrons ensures a memorable and relaxing time for everybody.

Here’s what to keep in mind when visiting a bed-and-breakfast.

♦ Keep noise levels low early in the morning and late at night.

♦ Knowing the check-in and checkout times helps to maintain the household’s natural flow so everything will run more smoothly. Note when breakfast, teas, or any other timed eating arrangements are scheduled and make sure you are on time.

♦ Innkeepers have great local knowledge to share, such as their favorite places to eat, visit, and explore, but be careful not to take up too much of their time. Remember, they have an entire inn to operate.

♦ If you have any special needs such as dietary or physical restrictions, let innkeepers know before your arrival, to make sure they can accommodate you.

♦ Tips are appreciated and should be given at the end of your stay. Enclose the tip with a thank-you note highlighting the three things you most enjoyed about their inn and the surrounding area. Present it to your innkeepers in an envelope as you depart while verbally thanking them.
